The courthouse in Hackensack was burned by the British on March 22, 1780.
For app. 3 years Oakland (then known as Youpough or Ponds) was the county seat
The only one in Bergen County other than Hackensack. Records were stored in the original ponds church. ( located at Long Hill Road and Ramapo Valley Road. )
