Ramapo State Forest

TRAILS

  • Runs from Barbara Drive in Pompton lakes (limited parking) Continue to footbridge over Route # 287/ past Ramapo Lake/ to Skyline drive / Continues on to the Ramapo Reservation then to Suffern NY 
  • RED TRAIL (Look Out)
  • Starts at south side of dam to east. (Ramapo Lake). Overlook of Oakland plus the town of Oakland  (Oakland Rec. fields, Valley School ) and double backs to Ramapo Lake. 
  • WHITE TRAIL
  • Starts on gravel road, (near Cannonball Trail) {north of lake} - Leads up to the Van Slyke Castle (RUINS) /past swimming pool and water tower and continues across Skyline Drive to the Todd Lake Area (where it meets a Yellow Trail that leads to the Ramapo Reservation) then doubles back across Skyline Drive and ends at the BLUE (Mac Evoy Trail) just before it reaches Ramapo Lake. 
  • BLUE (Mac Evoy ) TRAIL
  • Starts at the lower parking lot and goes to Ramapo Lake (north side) - continues past pipe line (gas) to Stephens Lake area. 
  • YELLOW (Hoeferlin Memorial ) TRAIL
  • Starts at Pool Hollow Road in Oakland (very limited parking) and joins the RED (Cannonball Trail) and crosses Route # 287 and Splits off of The Cannonball Trail and joins the Red Lookout Trail and on to Ramapo Lake. The Yellow Trail crosses the dam and continues on across Skyline Drive and Joins The Cannonball Trail and onto the Ramapo Reservation.
