ASSIGNMENT:

bulletMake a wanted poster of an infectious disease caused by a virus or bacteria

Include:

bullet Cause of the disease (what organism, bacteria/virus causes the disease)
bulletHow the disease is spread or “caught” by victims
bullet Symptoms
bullet Prognosis (what is likely to happen over what time period)
bullet Treatments, cures, preventions
bulletWhat has been and is now the impact of the disease? – statistics on incidence, mortality (% of deaths), morbidity (% of people who get sick), geographical spread
bullet Current research being performed concerning the disease
bullet Graphics (pictures of organism and victim’s symptoms)

 

Construction paper will be supplied.

bullet Tues. 3/8- introduce project, choose disease, begin research
bulletWed. 3/9- go to computer lab to do research, print information and pictures
bulletFri. 3/11- class time to work on poster
bullet If you don’t finish in class, finish over weekend
bullet Due date: Mon. 3/14- 10 points off for each day late
