Postcards of Saltcoats in
history....

This lovely hand colored view of children playing at
Winton Circus, Saltcoats is postmarked 1903.
It's a view from Winton Circus looking north up the coast towards
Ardrossan.

The label on this postcard is "The Beach, Saltcoats."
Its probably a view of the same point as in the Winton Circus
card
taken from the south looking towards Ardrossan.

The Bathing Pond, Saltcoats looking south.
The arcade (or a similar building) still stands on the point.
The Bathing Pond was constructed in the early 1900's as a tidal
pool
and was the biggest tidal pool in Scotland.
These municipal improvements are not yet seen in this
postcard.

Here's the bathing pool as it looked in the 1950's during
midnight swim.

View of Saltcoats from Ardrossan Castle. Saltcoats' Crest
visible in Right Corner

View of Eglington Street, Ardrossan
The Ferry Leaves Eglington Street, Ardrossan for Arran Island.
Or you can travel a few miles north to Largs and take the ferry to
Rothesay.
