Financial need must be demonstrated through the Federal FAFSA application process.  Students and parents apply through the college of their choice.  The FAFSA form determines the parents’ ability to pay for college.  It will determine how much scholarship money is awarded to the student, how much money in loans is approved and more importantly how much the family can afford to pay.  Naturally, the tuition from college to college varies greatly, but how much the parents can afford to pay doesn't’t change much.  The real difference in college tuition is made up in grants and loans.

All applications must be accompanied with the student aid report, SAR response letter.

DO NOT SEND THE FAFSA

All applications will be ordered from low to high in regards to ability to pay.  If there are 15 applications, they will be ranked from 1 to 15.  This ordinal number will be multiplied by 5 to get a composite score.  In addition to financial need, all other criteria will be weighted and scored.  The candidate with the highest overall score will be the recipient of the HRFA Scholarship.
