Astrophotos of Members of the Dark Sky Observers

Some of these photos were scanned from prints with a Mustek CG-8400 color scanner at 100 DPI resolution, some with an Apple One scanner.

This shot of Comet Hale-Bopp was taken by Ginger Payne from her home using a tripod mounted Pentax K-1000 with a 50 mm f/2 lens and a 25 second exposure.

This image was taken by Paul Dlugos using a CCD camera at the prime focus of a C-8. The area of the moon is covered on plates 4 & 5 of Rukl's Atlas of the Moon. The gash is the Vallis Alpes which is in the lunar Alps and the large crater to the right is Aristoteles.
 
 

This 20 minute exposure of M-8 was taken at the 1998 Stellafane convention by Glenn Burke. The photo was taken at the prime focus of a 10" Meade LX50 on Kodacolor Gold 1000.

This 30 minute shot of the Orion region was taken in Windham N.Y., by Glenn Burke through a 50mm lens at f/2. The exposure was 30 minutes on Ektachrome 400. Background light illuminated the trees during the exposure unbeknownst to the photographer!

This Aurora Borealis was observed from Monksville Reservoir in West Milford N.J. The picture was taken by Ginger Payne through a Pentax K-1000 with a 50 mm f/2 lens for ~15 sec.
 

This 30 minute exposure of the Ring Nebula was taken by Glenn Burke on July 18, 1998 at Wawayanda State Park. The photo was taken at the prime focus of a 10" Meade LX50 on Kodacolor Gold 1000.

This 30 minute guided shot of M-27 was taken through a C-8 at prime focus on ScotchChrome 400 pushed to 800 ISO. The shot was taken on September 30, 1995 at Wawayanda State Park.

This photo of the North American Nebula was taken by Glenn Burke at the 1998 Stellafane convention. The photo was taken through a 200mm f/4 Nikkor lens on Kodacolor Gold 1000 for 20 minutes. It was an excellent 2 nights at this years convention!

This 10 minute guided shot of northern Cygnus was taken in Windham N.Y. on Ektachrome 400.

This eclipse shot was taken during the 1991 eclipse in Hawaii by Ginger Payne. It was taken prime focus through a 3inch f/6.6 refractor.
 
 

This 10 minute shot of the Double Cluster was taken through a C-8 with a coma reducer corrector reducing the f/ratio to about f/6. The film used was Scotchrome 400.

This closeup lunar photo was taken by Ginger Payne afocally through a 8" Coulter Dobsonian.
 
 

This 30 minute shot of the Andromeda galaxy was taken through a C-8 at f6.6 using Celestron's Coma Reducer-Corrector. The film used was ScotchChrome 400, pushed to 800 ISO. The shot was taken on September 16, 1995 at Wawaynda State Park N.J.

This 30 minute shot of the NGC-6992 portion of the Veil nebula was taken through a C-8 using the Coma Reducer Corrector. ScotchChrome 400 was used and pushed to ISO 800. The shot was taken September 16, 1995 from Wawayanda State Park N.J.
