Sony Development - Metreon San Francisco
"The Way Things Work in Mammoth 3D"
Designer/Illustrator: David Macaulay
Concept Architect: James Wassell
Show Producer: Karl Sjodahl
VP of Design: Trevor Bryant
Study models, built using David's distinctive drawings, were
combined with digital imaging techniques to help us to
bring David's concepts to three dimensional space.
Melvin 1000 was the host for the attraction's pre-show.
Melvin was a retired automation robot, now the caretaker
of a collection of mechanical objects. The design was based
on B.B. Wonderbot the interactive robot greeter
at SonyWonder.
The main show for "The Way Things Work in Mammoth 3D" is a
three screen, 3D experience with in-theater effects which links
the guests to David Macaulay at his Rhode Island studio.

After the show, visitors can pick up merchandise, designed around imagry from the show, which allows them to take a part of their experience home with them.
