You first saw it
from across the meadow,
an inviting stretch of deepest green
beckoning,
that for which you have
searched
nay, even yearned,
but only just discovered
Some things are found
only when both the heart and the mind
are in harmony
open to
new beginnings
and new pathways
into the soul.
A canopy of leaves meet overhead
allowing shafts of light to filter gently down
dappling the forest floor with a mosaic of light.
Underfoot, pine needles and oak leaves
crunch softly beneath your feet.
You hear the soft sounds of a love song
being played upon a guitar.
You follow the music
to an intricate stone wall
with a teddy bear perched on it.
An inquisitive raccoon scampers across your path,
pausing for a moment acknowledging your presence
before he scurries up an ancient hollow oak.
High in the branches you notice
a treehouse the likes of which you've only imagined
in your fondest dreams of childhood!
A wolf howls and you know
the guardians of the forest are on guard!
The trail winds around through a stand of birches
and you rest for a moment,
leaning against the handrail of a troll-bridge.
A shaggy headed troll peers up at you
from the murky depths below.
You hear the laughter of a faery
coming from
an Alyndorian faery glade.
Out of the corner of your eye you sense movement
and turn to look.
Was that a unicorn you just saw?
Leaves fly and gyre as
Dalthyrian, the Dragon Lord
lands in front of you.
"Come visit my new family!"
he invites before lumbering off down the path,
his tail trailing behind him.
An elderly gentleman
dressed in clothes of a byegone era
shuffles by, muttering about his carrier pigeons.
