Inside the Hollow Oak
Your eyes peruse the hollowed place
and see piles and stacks of books everywhere....
Some are scattered on top of an antique brass-bound trunk.
Shelves are fashioned of inter-twined branches
as are cozy nooks under knot-holed windows.
Scrolls are lying as if the writer
were suddenly called away;
a quill pen lying next to an unstoppered bottle of ink,
lying next to a poem entitled
"On Geese and Growing Older"
You see hand-lettered signs tacked here and there
as well as a dusty victorian calendar from 1971.
Near spiraled stairs leading high into the upper branches,
you see a sign reading,

A piece of parchment catches your eye...
It is a poem called "The Covered Bridge."
A thick folder entitled "Banned Book List"
horrifies you.
There is a long, unfurled scroll stretching across the floor
that seems to contain an intriguing list of wonderful quotes.
Another slim volume entitled,
"Dragon Poetry"
lies open to
"The Dying Dragon."
Fitting strangely into a cranny
is a lit computer screen with
"webchat" on it....
It seems to be a short commentary
on communication.
Lying near the computer is a notice aboutPoetryTodayOnline.
