Wildcats 2 vs. Centennial Mischief 1
Conditions: 50s, sunny, firm pitch
WILDCATS EDGE OUT CENTENNIAL MISCHIEF The Wildcats opened the spring season with a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory over the Centennial Mischief. Centennial came out strong, and would have scored in the first 5 minutes had it not been for a great save by Cailly. After this initial scare, the Wildcats dominated the remainder of the half, but couldn't find the net. Just minutes into the second half, Centennial capitalized on a Wildcat defensive miscommunication, and scored the first goal of the game. The Wildcats quickly retaliated with a goal of their own. Kelsey picked off the ball just outside Centennial's 18, and passed to Sara on the left, who kicked a hard, low shot which spun off the goalkeeper's hands into the goal. The Wildcats continued to control the attack, creating numerous scoring opportunities that just missed the mark. Midway through the half, Tobin collected the ball at the top of the box, dodged her defender to the right, cut back to the left, and launched a high shot past the keeper, putting the Wildcats up by 1.

Sunday, April 11, Edison
Wildcats 2 vs. Edison United Dynamite 0
Conditions: 40s, overcast, windy, firm pitch
| The Wildcats upped their league record to 3 - 0, with
a 2 - 0 win over the Edison Dynamite. A formidable Edison defense held the Wildcat offensive team scoreless throughout the first half of the game. The Wildcat forwards and midfielders controlled most of the game, and had many well-executed attacks, but had difficulty penetrating Edison's bunker defense. The Wildcats finally broke through early in the second half. BeeCee placed a corner kick in the middle of the box, which resulted in a melee in front of the goal. The ball popped loose, and Marisa drove in a shot to the left post. A nice cross by Katelyn almost resulted in another goal, but the Wildcats were caught offsides. The Wildcats' second goal came late in the half, when Kelsey crossed a beautiful ball from deep in the right corner back to Abbey on the center of the 18. Abbey fired a blast by the Edison keeper, putting the game out of reach. Outstanding defense by the Wildcats allowed Edison only a couple shots on goal, which were smothered by Cailly and Megan. The Wildcats posted their second shutout of the season! |

Wildcats 5 vs. East Brunswick Lady Mischief 0
Conditions: 50's, sunny, firm pitch
| ANOTHER SHUTOUT! The Wildcats extended their unbeaten league record to 4 - 0, with a 5 - 0 victory over the East Brunswick Lady Mischief. The Wildcats took control of the game early, and never let up. Allison started the scoring when her own corner kick was returned back to her by Cailly, and she nailed a long, beautiful shot with her left foot. Next, Sara received the ball from Lauren and streaked up the left side, crossing to Cailly in the middle, who blasted a shot from the top of the box. Early in the second half, Nicole drew the goalkeeper out with a shot from the right side, which deflected off a defender, and Melissa pounced on the rebound at the center of the 20, and fired a rocket to the inside of the left post. Luck was not with the Lady Mischief, as they provided the Wildcats their fourth goal, when a corner kick by Allison deflected off a defender into their own goal. Cailly netted the game finale when Lauren chipped the ball from the left side to Cailly in the middle, and Cailly headed the ball into the box, and followed up with her own shot over the East Brunswick goalkeeper! Ally and Megan controlled the middle of the field well and distributed nicely to the outsides. Lauren did a great job in her debut performance at sweeper! East Brunswick had only a couple scoring opportunities early in the game, but Wildcat keepers Cailly and Megan never touched the ball! |

Wildcats 1 vs. Wayne Believers 1
Conditions: 50's, sunny, firm pitch
| The Wildcats tied the Wayne Believers in a fast and
very physical match. Somerset Hills dominated possession
of the ball, and had many more shots on goal, but,
unfortunately, only one shot hit the mark! The first half of the game was a back-and-forth, full-field battle that ended scoreless. The Wildcat goalkeepers, Cailly and Megan, each had a crucial save early in the game. Melissa had a couple of excellent last-instant steals at sweeper that denied the Believers any additional scoring opportunities. The Believers scored early in the second half, off a high, looping shot from their left side that arched well over Cailly, just below the crossbar and inside the right post. The Wildcats stepped up their intensity another notch and kept the pressure on the attack. Defenders Katie, Lauren, Marisa, and Melissa stifled the remainder of the Believers' offensive attempts, and Wayne never got off another shot. The Wildcat offense finally connected midway through the half. Melissa and Sara sliced through two defenders with a quick give-and-go, and Sara broke up the left side to the corner and sent a hard, low cross along the goal line, where Abbey slammed the shot past the keeper. The Wildcat offense continued to control the remainder of the game, but were unable to deliver a tie-breaking goal. BeeCee did a great job on offense and defense with a Believer constantly glued to her side! |

Wildcats 3 vs. Centennial Mischief 2
Conditions: 50's, sunny, firm pitch
| The Wildcats stymied the Centennial Mischief in their
second meeting of the spring season, with another
intense, come-from-behind victory. For the first time in
a year, the Wildcats had two goals scored against them in
a league game. The Wildcats got off to a good start, when a shot by Tobin was deflected by a Mischief defender right in front of the goal. BeeCee chested the ball to the ground, and lunged to her left around the same defender, stabbing in a shot with her left foot, just inside the left post. Centennial came back within minutes, though, and scored on a Wildcat lapse. Emily, the Centennial center forward, dribbled down the middle of the field, virtually uncontested, and took a wide open shot on an incredulous Cailly! Centennial struck again before the end of the half, giving the Mischief a 2 - 1 lead. The Wildcats came back early in the second half, when Ally was taken down by a Centennial defender in their box, giving the Wildcats a penalty kick. Melissa fired a perfect shot to the upper left corner of the net, tying the game at 2. The game-winning goal came midway through the half, when Kelsey crossed the ball from the left side, and a Centennial defender deflected it right back to her. From a sharp angle just outside the left post, Kelsey drove a left-footed shot through a sliver of an opening between the defender and the goalkeeper, which landed just inside the right post. The Wildcat defenders held off a deflated Centennial offense in the remaining minutes of the game. Marisa and Melissa both had a couple great clearances of dangerous Mischief advances on the Wildcat goalkeepers. With this win, the Wildcats' league record stands at 5 - 0 - 1. |

Wildcats 5 vs. East Brunswick Lady Mischief 0
Conditions: 50's, cloudy, windy, firm pitch
| The Wildcats defeated East Brunswick Lady Mischief, 5
- 0, in a repeat performance of their first match of the
season. The Wildcats showed great ball control, despite
25 - 30 mph wind gusts! Abbey started the scoring early in the game, when Marisa dropped a high corner kick in front of the net, and the East Brunswick goalkeeper deflected the ball into Abbey. Abbey juggled once, and popped the ball over the keeper. Next, Tobin sent a nice pass through the middle to BeeCee, who beat her defender with a cut to the right and a sharp shot to the left post. Melissa set up the third goal, with a beautiful kick from midfield, which the goalkeeper dropped and went down to recover, and Kelsey chipped the ball over the keeper. BeeCee scored her second goal of the game shortly into the second half. Abbey sent a throw-in from the right side, and BeeCee fired a low shot from just inside the 18 to the left corner of the goal. Tobin finished the scoring with an impressive series of dribbling moves through the middle of the field that eluded four East Brunswick defenders and the keeper! |

Wildcats 4 vs. West Windsor Riptide 1
Conditions: 60's, sunny, firm pitch
| The Wildcats upped their league record to 7 - 0 - 1,
defeating the West Windsor Riptide, 4 - 1. Abbey scored the first Wildcat goal early in the game, when she stole the ball at about the 25, pushed it thru to the 18, beat the defender to it, and blasted a shot just below the crossbar. Next, Sara collected the ball at midfield and sent a long pass through the middle to Abbey, who again one-touched the ball ahead to the 18, beat the defenders, and carbon-copied her first shot, inches below the crossbar. Late in the half, West Windsor narrowed the Wildcat lead, scoring on a penalty shot. The Wildcats answered right back, early in the second half, with a beautiful, long, direct kick by Megan, that bounced off the Riptide goalkeeper's fingertips and into the net. The Wildcat defense saw much more action in the second half. Katie had some nice clearances at sweeper, and Cailly and Megan each had a couple excellent saves, preserving the Wildcat lead. BeeCee scored the final goal of the game, when she stole the ball deep in the left corner, cut around two defenders, and drilled a shot behind the Riptide goalkeeper, just inside the right post. |

Wildcats 4 vs. Edison Dynamite 1
Conditions: 70's, sunny, firm pitch
| The Wildcats posted their eighth win in league play,
clinching first place in the top flight of the Mid-New
Jersey Division 4 - U11 Girls. With one game remaining in
the season, the Wildcats' league record stands at 8 - 0 -
1. Somerset Hills came from behind, trailing 0-1 at the half, to beat Edison Dynamite, 4-1. Edison scored the first goal of the game, late in the first half, which served as a wake-up call to the Wildcats. The Wildcats came out strong in the second half, immediately putting pressure on the Edison defense. Melissa started the action, scoring on an indirect kick . BeeCee tapped the ball, and Melissa chipped it over the Dynamite wall of defenders, a few yards off the goal line. Minutes later, Abbey crossed the ball from the right to Megan, who charged through the middle and drove a hard, low shot by the Edison keeper. Next, BeeCee sent a thru-ball to Abbey, who blasted a high shot from the 18. Abbey then assisted BeeCee, with a backpass that BeeCee popped high into the air. The ball deflected off an Edison defender and bounced over the goalkeeper into the net. |
