Breeding Stock
Our lambs are born the first part of
April. Since there are usually many being born right around the same
time, our barn is closed to visitors until the lambing season has
concluded. The mothers and their lambs are penned up in 5 X 5
lambing 'jugs' for a few days so we can monitor all systems and be
sure that they bond well and are nursing. Eventually they are moved
to a larger, communal pen with mothers of twins and triplets
separated so we can give those mothers extra grain (but only when
they are nursing).
After they have been weaned we have
a nice selection of ewe and ram lambs which would be a great addition
to any flock. Anyone wishing to purchase a ram lamb should place an
order as soon as possible since we castrate any unsold ram lambs in
late spring. Our flock has been carefully bred to produce a
multipurpose sheep with fast growth, tender meat and magnificent
fleeces which are white, black, brown or naturally colored. We also
offer wethers for handspinners, pets or just as lawn mowers.
All of our sheep and lambs are
enrolled in the USDA Scrapie Free Certification Program (NH Flock
#31)
