2004 Season Highlights

Highlights of the 2004 Season

·

·   We had two years in a row that were cold & wet with last year being extra wet. Despite the weather problems we were able to increase the deliveries to an average of 8.36 pounds/week. The total number of pounds delivered per shareholder (full-share) was over 184 pounds for the season. Deliveries were made from June to early November. This was 24 pounds more than in 2003.

·

·   We continue to maintain cooperative ventures with other local farmers. This provides a wider variety of vegetables to the shareholders. The Country Sampler Share which included goat cheese, “free-range” eggs, and honey continued in 2004 as well as weekly fruit deliveries. The fruit deliveries from Windy Brow Farm started in mid-July and included plums, pears, apples peaches & berries.

·   Farmer Rich maintained his accreditation with CT-NOFA as an Organic Land Care Professional.  While Catalpa Ridge Farm is no longer certified organic, Farmer Rich uses no chemicals or sprays on the farm.
