Heirloom Tomato Transplant/Seedling Sale with a Taste of Spring Garlic:
The Woman's Club of Ramsey is please to announce they will again be sponsoring their 2nd Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant/Seedling Sale on May 14th. The sale is a fund-raiser for the Woman’s Club who provides service to the community & donations to various charities. This year’s sale will be held between 10 am and 4 pm at the Erie Plaza Railroad Station off of Main Street.
Last year's sale was a great success with an earlier than expected sell-out. This year they will have over two thousand plants and will accept pre-orders so customers won't be disappointed. The tomato, herb, eggplant & pepper plants are grown by Susan & Richard Sisti of Catalpa Ridge Farm. They have been offering heirloom tomato tastings at Ramsey Day over the past three years. More than 50 different varieties of heirloom tomato plants will be offered with a great assortment of unusual varieties such as Pineapple, Box Car Willie, Mortgage Lifter, Green Zebra and Cherokee Purple to name a few. In addition to the seedlings, there will be a taste of “spring garlic” at the event, with bunches of spring garlic greens grown at Catalpa Ridge Farm also available for sale. You will be able to taste pestos & dips made from the early spring garlic and recipes will be available.
