| The art of Jeet Kune Do was developed by Bruce Lee. The general philosophy of Bruce Lee was to make his body as perfect as possible in responding to physical threat. He did this by regular drills and training which enhanced his response time, strength, and martial skills. There are several sub-systems within the JKD community; "Original JKD", Jun Fan JKD, JKD Concepts, etc. TAJKD is associated with all sub-systems in that we train and study with all JKD instructors, both original students and 2nd, 3rd generation. The different sub-systems have different philosophies about training. Total Approach JKD is separate from the others because the training is primarily based on empty hand self-defense skills. There is some concepts training and integration of different martial arts such as Western Boxing,Wing Chun, Silat, Thai Boxing, Judo, Jujitsu, Kali/Arnis, Western Wrestling, Shootfighting and Capoeira. The synthesis of these arts into a functional martial art and self defense system is done by regular free-style sparring and grappling. TAJKD drills always involve motion and sensitivity.
