Welcome to the Black Saturn Mandelbrot Set Explorer

Roam around through the fascinating and beautiful patterns of the Mandelbrot set. Zoom in on smaller and smaller areas and discover the hidden complexities of the set. The Explorer was written in Java, so it runs on most browsers.

Depending on the screen resolution and power of your computer there are 3 levels of the set that you can run.

  • If your screen is set to 800 by 600 pixels, or if you have a low spec computer, you may want to run the low resolution version of the Explorer. The chart will fit on your screen and will take the least amount of time to run.
  • If your screen is set to 1152 by 864 pixels or better, and you have reasonable horsepower under the hood, go for the high resolution version of the Explorer. This takes longer to run than the low res version, but provides more detail on the set.
  • If your screen resolution is 1600 by 1200 pixels, and your CPU is a beefed up mutant on steroids, go for the very high resolution version of the Explorer. The best detail on the Mandelbrot set that we can deliver.
